Test_file_1 keeps automatically adding itself to my download list

Recommended Posts

Just have a bit of weird one, I have not come across this before but I have a file called test_file_1 automatically add itself and start downloading without adding it to the queue.

I deleted it this morning and it added itself and started downloading again. It's not downloading anything to my download folder but it says in utorrent its 1GB in file size.

I am running a beta version of utorrent 1.9.0 (29250).

Any advice if this is just uTorrent updating/grabbing beta information or something more sinister.

This is part of the tracker: cd.saucers.utorrent.com/

I am also running beta version of utorrent 1.9.0 (29250). A file called test_file_1 automatically add itself. Being disconcerted I deleted the file which later restarted on its own. The file is downloading tothe following location /Users/xxxxx/Library/Application Support/uTorrent/share/test_file_1 tracker info as follows udp://d4.6b.de.12.52.13.eb.0d.eb.b3.0a.8f.c6.ee.a4.7e.9e.7e.b2.cd.saucers.utorrent.com/?auth=8a79855175bd6be2dfcdf0a019a5db7cd9263b14f41110c294f814f6c096bc1981e472716eb8309d3497343d0b506b5ec9934d2fb193fa39c5a95b6d04f27f9af6f06bb145057cc08fe10d223511de466ae541e80c997aeb475993fb4ea4310f

There seem to be significant amounts having this issue. Some clarification is in order!

10 minute update: I've had a chance to examine the file a bit in the window.

I've had my application open all night to seed. The test_file_1 torrent indicates that it has 38 seeds and 9072 peers. It also indicates that it's 99% downloaded, and that it's 1.0 GB. But I went to check the file in my user Library, and it's only 86KB.

At the moment, it's just sitting in the window, paused, with a grey button next to the name. I'd like to delete it, but it will probably just start again. I'd love to have an answer asap. Maybe an admin knows?

I'm also running uTorrent Version 1.9.0 (29250). I honestly think this might be a virus. Is that possible?

UPDATE: adding screenshot of Tracker window, in case it's useful:

Hey all, it looks like our dev team found the source of this, a bit of test code that ended up in the most recent beta version. We're looking into disabling the test downloads server-side so users won't have to update their beta versions, I'll let you know when we've made the change. Thanks to everyone who reported this, and let me know if you have any questions.
