Running as a background process instead of as a app?

I was steered here by the bittorrent uninstall servery so sorry if this is the wrong place.

 

now, bittorrent was working great, then it became unresponsive so i left it alone a bit. When i got back to it my laptop needed an update,after that and a clean install of it it still runs a background process instead of an app. anything i can do? or just abandon it, uninstall it, and install a new different client?
