spliff_doctor
Hello AllPlease Please can someone help me...I used to have a 5 yr old PC with windows XP on it and i was a frequent user on Utorrent (i love it)I thought i would upgrade my pc so i have bought a Dell pc, a hi spec 1 to use as a media centre....Here starts my problemsI downloaded Utorrent straight away but it will not work, i think it is a conflict with Vista (came installed by dell) im not the best technicly on a pc but i know a little bit, i have started downloading a file and it got to 80% complete very quickly, but then it stopped, said this program was beeing used by something else, i have tried alot of other files and these get nowhere, after it has stopped it also turns off my internet connection, i need to reboot my pc to sort this out...I am running Windows Vista home premium and i think the problem is in there, is there any settings in there i need to change to alow utorrent to work???If anyone can help please but if poss to say it in thick mans terms to make sure i understand it all.....lol (im the thick man)I really do want to get back using utorrent as i found it a fantastic program for my needs....Many thanksJon
Ultima
Get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, File > Save, then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here. As for the interrupted internet connection... check the first link in my signature.

Athletica
I am also running Windows Vista Home Premium on a new DELL computer. I dont have any major problem (except for this morning's crash). It runs well even before I did portforwarding. Yes, ocassionally I get the same error message while downloading. All you have to do is highlight the file, right click on it and choose Remove (NOT Remove and...), click YES. Then reload the very same torrent again. So dont worry, it will restart from where you left off. The same error message could easily happen again to the same file. Just repeat the process. As for shutting down, not sure if this will help - make sure the Auto Shutdown is disabled (under Preferences). Also, play with your Power Plan (on your computer), make sure ur computer doesnt go on hibernate mode when its been idled for too long, cuz u will lose your internet connection.hope it helps. Ultima
@spliff_doctor: Yes, that's what I was after. Roxio's indexing service (RoxWatch9.exe) is known to cause the "file cannot be accessed" errors. I think you'd be better off uninstalling Roxio... Besides that, you seem to also have Windows Vista's search indexing service enabled, which is also known to cause problems sometimes. You can probably disable that too from services.msc. rohit_xl
Hi Moderators,I have almost the same problem.I have a dell laptop with dual boot (vista & XP)When running utorrent in XP, - Am able to forward the port- Have the green signal/icon at the botton- My download speed are good- Able to connect to many seeds, etc...But when i boot on to vista, i start facing problems.- Constant Yellow icon at the bottom- Port forwarding fails- Low download speeds, almost 1/5 the speed for the same torrent- Low connectivity to seeders and peers, 1/5 the number as compared while donloading from the same orrent file.Have searched thru this forum and also tried googling- Created exceptions in windows inbuilt firewall- Tried http://www.bootstrike.com/Articles/BitTorrentGuide/- Tried hardcoding the IP into utorrent- Tried enabling encryption option- Tried legacy connections- Tried disabling uPnPbut none of the above solutions could sovle my problem. Please guide. Switeck
spliff_doctor,This is Roxio right?: RoxWatch9.exe RoxMediaDB9.exe RoxWatchTray9.exe If so, they are KNOWN to interfere with µTorrent and intentionally corrupt media files. Some of the other stuff could be trojans/viruses, so do some research on whether they are what they say they are. (GOOGLE is your friend for that!)valpepsi,It seems you have Roxio too. Same disease, same problems as spliff_doctor.
