mocell
My understanding with bittorrent is there are three hashes a matdata table with a hash of of each individual piece or chunk and the hash of the matada and the infohash. The infohash is a hash of the matadata hash. If I just use the infohash to get my download and there are two different files active with the same infohash what would happen? since both files have different matada information the would the client just download both sets of files or would that cause a collision? I know with sha-1 this should never happen but if it did.
DreadWingKnight
Because of the information contained in the info dictionary that calculates the infohash, it is bordering on completely impossible for collisions. You change the info dictionary of the torrent, you change the infohash. PERIOD.
