Windows Explorer shutdown

While i'm running utorrent if i open the folder that my files are downloading to i get either

Dr.watson has encountered a problem and has to close

Windows explorer has encountered a problem and has to close.

Which ever occurs the result is the same. Explorer shuts down and refreshes.

Has anyone else encountered this.

Its hardly a life threating prob but annoying as i frequently view [specifics removed] etc from this folder.

p.s. doesnt matter if i'm attempting to view a finished torrent file or an active one. Its still occurs.

Try to turn off the AVI preview handler in your registry.

however not sure if that would help. I'm only opening the download folder and explorer shuts down. This happens before i even open any of the downloaded files

EDIT by silverfire: The edit function exists for a reason. Double posting instead of editing is negligent and unnecessary.

The AVI thumbnail handler is known to cause explorer.exe lockups and crashes. Try Google for instructions on how to tweak your registry.

Thanks a million folks. Have disabled avi preview and will no doubt post again if it doesn't remedy prob ( Sure it will though ). Again THANKS VERY MUCH, I appreciate it.
