Using only the information you're giving us, I've come to the conclusion that PETA is raiding an animal testing lab along the path that your broadband lines run, which damaged some of the network infrastructure in the process, and that's why it's going slowly.

For a less outrageous answer, please provide information on your settings, network equipment, etc.
