Univeristy ISP blocking P2P?

Hello everybody,

I've been using uTorrent for a long time, however when i recently moved into my residence at Nottingham Trent university, any download i try to do runs at 0.0kb/s, but occationally go up to 0.1 or 0.2kb/s for a brief moment, then goes down to 0.0kb/s again.

Does anyone have a theory why this is, and what I can do about it?

You're being blocked almost for certain.

Universities try very hard to block P2P because 24/7 automatic bandwidth useage by even a handful of people is more than their shared connections can bear.

There is little to nothing you can do.

You may be able to get a regular ISP connection if your residence allows off-campus ISP links.
