hendrix Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 When requesting ipfilter.dat some ppl said that there was no use, cause it wasnt safe.. I want to know why! Does anybody have a explaination?
vurlix Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Any kind of ip filtering is unsafe (this includes the likes of peerguardian, safepeer, protowall, etc etc etc). It helps, but it is not perfect. All that's needed to counter it is to use an IP which is not blocked yet.If you want maximum security, BitTorrent is not for you.
hendrix Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 ...but it helps a bit, making BitTorrent MORE secure.. so ill keep using ipfilter.dat and bittorrent! Thanks!
r00ted Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 The only 100% solution is0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255or, for pg/pw format:all:0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255then just exclude IP addresses of people and sites you know and trust
