ak471992 Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 I have a weird problem. basically when i add a torrent to start downloading it doesnt show any peers or seeds in the brackets even though it says there are many seeds and peers downloading as it says so on torrentspy.com. therefore it doesnt start downloading and i dont know what to do.Thanks
Ultima Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 If there is nothing wrong with the tracker status, then the tracker index was showing outdated information. If there is something wrong with the tracker status, then... well, that's your answer.
ak471992 Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 i also have a problem with the trackers on everything that i download it says that it is either an invalid url or proxy connect error: no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. so are both problems linked.thanks for the reply
Ultima Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Perhaps BT is placing you behind a transparent proxy... When you use the port checker, does it redirect you to the checker with :16000 in the URL?
ak471992 Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 oh right i thought so it just says port is open and the url is ( is url meant by whats in the adress bar if it is this is what it said) http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=64306
Ultima Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Yes, that'd be the correct URL... but STOP multi-posting and bumping your threads -- the rest of us actually have things to do, so aren't here 24/7 to answer all your questions. Just be patient.Anyway, did you set a proxy up in Preferences > Connection?
ak471992 Posted January 7, 2007 Author Report Posted January 7, 2007 sorry.if you mean "use proxy server for peer to peer connections" i have now checked that box but it doesnt seem to have made a difference the tracker status is still the the same.Oh wait i just saw the proxy box an i have nothing written in it. is there something i should type in.Thanks
Ultima Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Nah, don't bother using the proxy -- I was checking to make sure you weren't actually using a proxy. The thing that has me asking is this: "proxy connect error: no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"To be honest, I'm running fairly low on ideas at the moment ;\
ak471992 Posted January 7, 2007 Author Report Posted January 7, 2007 is there anything at all it could be.sometimes the tracker status switches and it says invalid url.
ak471992 Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 wait now the peers and seeds come up in the brackets but is there anything i can do about the actual tracker and if you dont do you know anybody who doesThanks
ak471992 Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Posted January 9, 2007 will the trackers actually make a difference on how fast the torrents actually download
ak471992 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 so qhats the point of me getting it fixed. oh well . if you find a way to fix it my e-mail adress is arun_khuttan_1@hotmail.com. Thanks
Ultima Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 The point is that you get no peers at all if you can't connect to a tracker. My answer was to say there is no inherent difference between using one tracker over another (not one tracker over none, in which case -- as I have mentioned -- you won't get anything).
ak471992 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 but the weird thing is that i do connect to peers and my speeds are ok thyre not fantastic but i'll live they do get up to about 120kB/s
Lord Alderaan Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I've been able to get peers through DHT even if the tracker is completely down. So it's not completely true that you can't get peers if the tracker is down.120kb/s is a nice speed especially if you only got peers through DHT.
ak471992 Posted January 11, 2007 Author Report Posted January 11, 2007 thanks . the speeds have now actually been up to 180kb/s but the even weirder thing is that even if i turn dht of it carries on downloading at a steady speed.?????
Ultima Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 @Lord Alderaan: DHT is still a distributed tracker -- do notice I mentioned "a tracker" in general, not a specific type of tracker ;\
ak471992 Posted January 12, 2007 Author Report Posted January 12, 2007 who cares is there anyway we cn solve the problem
