It might, but zone alarm is not recommended, there are many cases where it will interfere with utorrent's operation including completely blocking it (even with the proper rules)

ZA is outdated now, especially on Vista/7. Use Comodo for example.

I didn't want to install any new firewalls so made this small application to kill/restart listed processes if specified VPN connection is down. It checks the connection every 0.3 seconds and it has worked well for me:

The package has also full source code in case someone is interested to take a look. Or maybe integrate VPN checker to uTorrent?

Alternatively, on a Mac or Unix machine you can use Vuze (formerly Azureus), which you can configure to only to bind to your VPN interface. I'm not sure if this would work on a Windows machine.

If you find a better way to do this on a Mac without purchasing a firewall, please let me know. I hate having to use Vuze. It's the antichrist of torrent clients... terrible piece of bloatware.

For torrents it's better to use VPN service, paid or free it doesn't matter I use paid service of kebrum.com, good one

I don't have a VPN problem but my work firewall blocks all but necessary ports so I use a wireless card at work. The net.bind_ip and net.outgoing_ip worked for me. Thanks guys.
