Vista Business Os Internet Explorer stops when uTorrent runs

Hello

I hope someone can shed some light on a problem I keep having.

I'm running Vista business edition 32 bit operating system and whenever I run uTorrent (or other torrent client) my internet explorer completely stops working. Even after quitting uTorrent it won't work again unless I reboot. Even more strangely, my email client works fine.

I can't really run the speed settings or port test as they both need to access the net via internet explorer...........which, of course, won't work once uTorrent has run.

I have recently uninstalled and reinstalled the latest uTorrent client and was enjoying great speeds last night. However, today is a different story.

Perhaps I'm being a complete amateur but any help would be much appreciated.

What firewall do you have? Did you change net.max_halfopen? What router do you have?

thanks for getting back to me. Haven't changed any settings such as net.max_halfopen. I have McAfee firewall running - set to allow uTorrent. I'm using a netgear dg834g wireless router.

I really don't get why it would stop the internet working, even after quitting and why it takes a restart to get it back up.

If you can suggest something, I would be glad of the help.
