goathouse Posted November 16, 2007 Author Report Share Posted November 16, 2007 Nah. It turns out I have an invalid version of XP. I've suspected this -- a friend set our computer up so I was never certain -- so I've avoided updating on the MS site because I've been under the impression that they're sure to validate your OS before allowing you to update. Somehow, because of the lax security on my computer, a virus has removed my Windows Firewall control panel and -- I believe -- blocked my ports in some fashion or another.
