shizno
this is going to be a little hard to explain...Lets say you are at your parents house for the weekend, and you start downloading a torrent on their PC; but it does not finish downloading before you have to leave...all that is downloading is gone to waste******************************now think about this, the ability to transfer that torrent and the downloaded data (pieces at this point) to another PC and resume downloading where you left off with little if no loss******************************so now you have to leave, but before you go you can generate a ".piece" (just to call it something) file. this file contains how much of the torrent was downloaded and what was not downloaded. Then you burn the downloaded data to a DVD along with the '.piece' filewhen you get home you open uTorrent and open the .piece file, then it prompts you for the location of the downloaded data. Once that is done, it calculates where the breaking points are; you might lose some of the downloaded data. And then it continues to download as normal.what do you think? , im not a programmer, but doesnt utorrent (and torrents in general) already put all the files as pieces?, i dont think my idea would be too crazy
hermanm
uTorrent already does this. If you copy the incomplete files to a DVD, then copy them back to another hard drive, do a "Force Recheck" and uTorrent will figure out what the missing pieces are. Remember to remove the "Read Only" permission on the files after you copy down from the DVD.
Ultima
Indeed, it's already doable (and it has always been so).
