dcsquare Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 I have a WRT54GL and an AT-AR221E. On both I tried port forwarding and DMZ. If I use another application (for ex an ftp server) on the port used by utorrent, it's listed as open on the utorrent testport page.If I use utorrent, the port is no longer listed as open, and utorrent has the red exclamation mark.I'm using Vista Ultimate SP1, with the firewall turned off. No firewall is turned on in the router either.Any ideas? Cause I've sure run out of ideas after 1 week...
Firon Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 Plesae post a HijackThis log.And if you're forwarding manually, try disabling UPnP.
dcsquare Posted June 20, 2008 Author Report Posted June 20, 2008 UPnP is disabled. I don't usually use it.Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 8:09:40 AM, on 6/20/2008Platform: Windows Vista SP1 (WinNT 6.00.1905)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6001.18000)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\Windows\system32\Dwm.exeC:\Windows\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exeC:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashDisp.exeC:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exeC:\Windows\system32\conime.exeC:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exeC:\Users\Dan\Downloads\HiJackThis.exeR1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blankR1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.localR0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhostO2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dllO2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\ssv.dllO2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Conversion Toolbar Helper - {AE7CD045-E861-484f-8273-0445EE161910} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\AcroIEFavClient.dllO3 - Toolbar: Adobe PDF - {47833539-D0C5-4125-9FA8-0819E2EAAC93} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\AcroIEFavClient.dllO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Defender] %ProgramFiles%\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe -hideO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [avast!] C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Avast4\ashDisp.exeO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [FileZilla Server Interface] "C:\Program Files\FileZilla Server\FileZilla Server Interface.exe"O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\jusched.exe"O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Firon Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 It's probably Avast's fault. It can act like a firewall under certain circumstances and is likely blocking µTorrent from listening on any port.
dcsquare Posted June 20, 2008 Author Report Posted June 20, 2008 Tried with avast and Windows Defender turned off. Same result.The problem is that if I connect the computer directly to the cable modem, I'm connectible. That's why at first I assumed a router problem and I changed my old AT-AR221E (that's been working fine for the past 4 years) with a brand new WRT54GL, but the problem remained.And yes, I did forward properly the port (an ftp server on the same port works just fine).
Firon Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 I don't think disabling Avast will work... probably only uninstalling it. You can always reinstall it if I'm wrong.
dcsquare Posted June 20, 2008 Author Report Posted June 20, 2008 Uninstalled avast and still the same problem
Firon Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 Try enabling the built-in Vista firewall again and reconfigure it to allow µTorrent.
