uTorrent eating my bandwidth

Hello everyone

I have registred here hoping to find some kind of help

I got a Linksys WRT54GL, which always worked fine until I installed uTorrent on my flatmates computer

I got a mac, and I use transmission with it

Anyway, my feeling is each time they use bittorrent, the router jams

I can ping sites very slowly, takes ages to load a webpage

If I switch off and then on the wifi router, it seems to work for a while then jams again

So I though the issue must be uTorrent, although i've not run serious tests yet (like having the 2 pcs side by side, start utorrent on one and see what happens... gotta do it)

anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has heard of this problem and if anyone has any suggestion

Have you upgraded that router? Use Tomato: http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato

Because you're using two torrent clients, you'll need to use much lower settings in both clients for both to run simultaneously. If upgrading your router doesn't help, consult http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992, and if this is with just one PC running a torrent client, in that thread I linked look at net.max_halfopen if just the BT running the computer slows down.
