not downloading anything when there's 5000+seeders and 5000+leechers

hi guys Ive only had utorrent for a couple of months now and I had to re install it after re formatting windows xp sp2.. anyways the old version I was using that worked fine.. but now I've obviously downloaded the lastest version but I've tried everything possible and can not get anything to download at all the torrents just sit there with 5000+ seeders and does nothing.. can someone please help???? its frustrating when an old version worked so well with not even adjusting anything then I get this new version and it wont even download(and I've tried reinstalling utorrent twice)

Did you try the latest v1.8.1 beta. Some serious connectivity bugs were fixed.

Also try the 1st and 2nd links in my signature for basic troubleshooting issues.
