Download starts fast but after a few minutes it goes down to 10-15kB/s

Hi,

I haver a serious problem with my utorrent. Before I had to recover my backup yesterday I had a downspeed around 500kB/s and now it starts fine but after 1 or 2 minutes the speed goes down to 10-15 kB/s. I did'nt cange any utorrent or router settings. Very strage. I hope that someone can help me with my problem

It is very important to also know what your upload speeds are doing at these times. Not only the amounts, but also the graph of both download and upload over time. An abrupt drop in both can often be the case of some sort of hardware (or driver) overload...or an ISP crippler coming into effect as some threshold value (known only to it) is exceeded.

Also, there's the "new peer" download bonuses -- new peers are freely given pieces of the torrent to share with other new peers. If this didn't happen, there'd be nothing for them to share. Once the "new peer" phase is over, any peer that doesn't reciprocate the favors tends to find its download speeds falling to painfully low levels.
