moogly Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 @Ultima: Yes like you, I see nothing wrong. Do you know if BT DNA can sometimes occur this issue? (just for info)
lochow Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 i know these are the utorrent forums, and am a huge fan, but until they get this issue fixed, it seems that bitlord (yes its pretty aweful, but works if you are in a crunch) is the only application that doesnt seem to have this problem. Ive tried many other clients... most wont even recognize the .torrent file ( Ctorrent, arctic torrent, bit comet, BitTorrent6, etc) I might suggest this, just make sure that you catch the adware in bitlord...
Ultima Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Yeah, how about not hijacking the thread, eh?@moogly: No, just a random hunch. My other hunch is that the Symantec product wasn't properly uninstalled (at least it looks to me like a single component is still running on the system). That too has caused odd problems for some users before, but I'm waiting to see if the BT DNA thing was the real cause.
Exan Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 Thank you for your replies. I did uninstall BT DNA and I am still having the same problem.
Ultima Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Are you still using Symantec's security product? If not, run the removal tool and restart your computer.Either way, we'll need an updated HijackThis log, and also...Get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, Ctrl+D (to show the lower DLL pane), select the µTorrent process from the list, Ctrl+S (and save the list somewhere you'll find easily -- like the Desktop), then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here
Exan Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 Ok I used the removal tool you posted Ultima, I also have a new Hijack this log to follow as well as a log from Process Explorer. lochow Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I apologize for not being more clear... Im having almost exactly the same issues, and the only solution ive found is the one above. you can see my problems in this tread here.http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=53738Sorry it came off sounding like a hijack, but the truth is its the only solution ive found to work for a temporary fix, until the issue is completely solved for uTorrent.
Ultima Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 User-mapped section open is not the same thing as Access Denied.@Exan: So um... I'm not seeing anything particularly obvious from looking at the lists. The things that do look odd to me, though, are the following:IadHide5.dll IAdHide BackWeb 7.2.0.157O18 - Protocol: bw+0 - {AE8FBDCB-3139-4179-87F6-D4135D8772A6} - C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BWPlugProtocol-8876480.dll... (along with the bajillion other O18 Logitech "protocols")Basically, this one has me particularly stumped. Is there any reason you're not using a security software, BTW?
moogly Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 IadHide5.dll is a DLL to update programs, it's a part from Logitech Desktop Messenger.http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/iadhide5.dll.htmlI don't know if it's the culprit anyway.
Ultima Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Yeah, I saw that, which is why I only consider its hooking onto µTorrent as "odd" instead of "obvious cause".
opus44 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Have you tried excluding the download subdirectory from Windows Indexing service? My Computer>Manage>Services and Applications>Indexing Service>System>Directories>New>Browse to the download directory. Select the No radio button and hit Ok.I had problems and tried everything until I did this. Also turn off indexing in Windows Desktop, Nero indexing, Google Desktop, and any other indexing service.
Exan Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 How do I turn off Windows Desktop, Nero indexing, Google Desktop?
dondavis Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 I have the same problem. It appears to be hit or miss, more hit than miss. I mean the problem occurs much more often than not. I recently upgraded to 1.8.2 and only just suspected utorrent since it has never happened before. I have been using utorrent for many years. Fondly.Hit and miss solution: --- start torrent download to establish file--- optionally stop the download. This sometimes seems to make a difference.--- go to the downloading file Properties. Correct the Read Only which somehow appears.--- restart the download.I am using Verizon FiOS 20/5 Mb. FiOS is quite quirky and stingy in general (they provide the absolute minimum clear qam tv unlike cable providers heretofore. Unfortunately, I am told Cablevision has joined in this practice.) I thought this was another FiOS problem. Then I thought it was my Zone Alarm. After working those, I looked at the file attributes and discovered the Read Only change. Turns out a few downloads among several simultaneous ones do not result in this Read Only change to the normal download.Unfortunately, the Read Only fix does not always persist. The file will resume downloading for a while but then the file changes again to Read Only.Suggestions?Thanks.Don Davis
moogly Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 @dondavis: don't hijack this thread, create yours and post requested information. Hijackthis log please. Guide: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=29748
Exan Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 Dondavis I did give your suggestion a chance still with no luck from any of the suggestions I have gotten. Could someone tell me how to disable MSN desktop and google please.
moogly Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Exan, it's was a general remark from his part. If you don't have GoogleDesktop and MSN, there is no reason to uninstall it.Anyway try to fix the problem with IadHide5.dll Backweb. Uninstall Logitech Desktop Messenger (temporarily) and look at if the problem continues. Not sure that will fix it but it's the only thing I see at the moment.
dondavis Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Hello, again.Exan, sorry my offering did not work. I continue to have similar lack of success. Moogly,Am I correct that I am supposed to enter my question in an additional thread Access Denied thread?
moogly Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Yes it's better to create your thread.
