sgtpepper Posted February 16, 2009 Report Share Posted February 16, 2009 Okay I've been messing with this for a long time now and reading all kinds of wikis and start up guides and everything and I don't know what's going on, so hopefully you guys can help me out.It looks to me like nothing is connecting at all. The little status icon (green/yellow/red next to DHT) most of the time is completely blank. Like it isn't there. Any time I try to start a torrent (I tried the slackware download recommended on one of the guides) it will just say Seeds: 0(0) Peers: 0(0) and of course remaining time is infinite. This happens with any torrent I try.The confusing thing is there was a brief time where it was downloading a torrent and working. I had a green status icon and I was downloading from Seeds: 1(2) and Peers: 0(6). But it was still glacially slow. Like 1 kbps slow. Remaining time for a 700mb file was in the range of 16 weeks.But while that torrent was downloading, that slowly, I tried the slackware download again (which supposedly has its own server) and it still didn't connect, just like earlier. Then within a minute or so, everything shut back off again. The green status icon went away and everything stopped.*WHAT I'VE TRIED (because I know that's what you want to know):My router obviously accepts some type of UPnP. I logged into it to enable port forwarding and it was already set up. Just for good measure I changed the port in utorrent and the change automatically showed up in my router. I haven't set my local IP as static, but it never changes. It's always 192.168.2.3 As I understand, even if this is the problem, it should work until the comp is restarted, right?I tested my connection with Glasnost. It told me that my ISP is NOT blocking bittorrent traffic in any way (even on port 6881). BTW I have my port set to 25670 at the moment.My upload speed as promised by my cable company is 512kbps. I put that number into the speedguide and let it do its thing.I'm not using any software firewall besides the built in one from Windows Vista, and I have that exception turned on in uTorrent. Just to make sure though, I tried disabling the Vista firewall and trying again and nothing changed.I have Protocol Encryption set to "Enabled" with Allow legacy connections checked. I set the DHCP range on my router from 2-100 to 2-99 and assigned my computer to 100 with the proper DNS servers and everything. My internet works still so I guess that step was a success.I went back in and changed my port forwarding assignments to the new IP address. I went into the speed guide and it says the port is being forwarded properly (which it said before I changed the IP).I opened up uTorrent and briefly got a yellow icon before it promptly disappeared again. I'm now in exactly the same boat. 0 peers and seeds and no downloading.Grrr....EDIT: Just to check, I tried putting my computer in the DMZ on my router. Like I said earlier, the only software firewall I use is Windows Defender, and my cable modem doesn't have a router in it. Any ideas on where the snag is? Many of them include software firewalls now.How about doing a Process Explorer list of DLLs used by utorrent.exe?(very bottom of 1st link in my signature for how to post that here.)
