utorrent uses 100% of (one) cpu when a tracker is down

Right now the website of the pirate bay is down for me, and I see the "Tracker:" field of my download (there is only one currently) switching all the time between http://tracker.thepiratebay.org/announce and udp://tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announce, and one of my cpu is at 100% during this time (and I checked, this is really utorrent using the 100%).

After a while (at least 10 minutes) it stops, and starts again about 10 minutes later (I think, maybe it's it's more sporadic).

I have utorrent 0.9.1 Build 14581 with OS X 10.5.6.

[sorry for cross posting, I posted in the windows forums before...]

it seems that the pirate bay website is back, so it's not happening anymore. The alternance of values for the tracker field seems to be normal, since it is still happening and my cpu is not at 100%. I'll post what you asked for here as soon as the problem arises again.

  • 2 weeks later...

This happens a lot to me. Sometimes it makes the client unusable since I only get at most a percent of the file between each 'lock-up'. As soon as I stop the torrent that is causing it it is fine again, but when I start it it's only a matter of time before the problem appears again. Now I'm at 77% of a 330MB file and the problem has been happening 4-5 times.
