lhahne Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 I need to use a certain port for incoming connections as I currently only have one incoming port open in our firewall (which is beyond my control). Sometimes when I quit uTorrent, it doesn't release the port and when I start it again, it says the port is already taken and I need to restart my computer to get it running properly again. In addition, uTorrent sometimes loses the correct port setting no matter whether the port is reserved or not when starting it.
bothaus Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 You could try toggling your interface:sudo ifconfig en0 downthen:sudo ifconfig en0 upDepending on what interface you are using. LAN or Airport it could be en1 or en0 or fw0 etc...Check Network prefs or System Profiler or run: ifconfig -a.
NoOneButMe Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 How are you quitting uTorrent? If you quit normally, it should release the port. Force-quitting or crashing might not release right away. It should free up on its own though.
