afc132 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 My torrents take ages to download, they are painfully slow, I have followed many guides but none seem to work. So I have accepted the fact that my torrents will always take ages, and there is nothing I can do about it. So, usually a torrents download speed is about 5kbs. Suddenly, yesterday one of my torrents randomly zoomed up to 250kbs. I was like wow! Unfortunately, that lasted for about 10 minutes, it then went back to its usual slow self. It had the same amount of seeds and peers as another torrent that was downloading, but that one was at 5kbs like normal. Now I am wondering why did my download speed shoot up for 10 minutes for the first time ever, then come crashing back to normal. Is there a way I can make this more consistant?I am using a bt wireless router, with firewall turned on, when I turned it off it made no difference. Thanks in advance
Switeck Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 There's 'extreme' hiding tricks to get better speeds:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=361747#p361747(Note: My post immediately following that one explains what settings in uTorrent are similar to the Azureus ones.)...but such hiding tricks are *NOT* easy to do!Vaguely similar settings in uTorrent:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=58714Do understand these could just as easily not work. They are only good against certain kinds of BitTorrent throttling.
