Just checked into a hotel for two weeks, the internet connection's ok, but i can't connect using µTorrent. peers show up fine, but it just doesn't connect. i tried randomizing the port and forcing protocol outgoing connection - but still nada. any suggestions?

thanks so much for any help - and this great bt client!

Try using a proxy just for Trackers.

Set everything else to encryption. (FORCED outgoing, no legacy)

Try with DHT disabled, then try without it disabled.

Disable Local Peer Discovery, Resolve IPs (right-click in PEERS window of a torrent), UPnP, NAT-PMP.

Also experiment with allowing/blocking uTP connections...and maybe even Teredo/IPv6 connections as well!

Thanks so much for the suggestions.

In another forum b*n posted the following, which may be useful to others:

If totally encrypting and using non-standard ports doesn't work its likely all bulk traffic is being blocked i.e. non-http traffic. Or less likely deep packet inspection.

Try this test: http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php

Ideally to bypass throttling or qos your going to need to set-up a ssh tunnel or vpn on a http port. These options are going to require at least a shell account but more likely a vps or dedi.
