Speed and seed problems with newest version.

Before upgrading to the new version, when I downloaded torrents that had about 100 peers, the amount of seeds would increase in short periods of time(for example from 0 seeds and 100 peers to 30 seeds and 100 or 80 peers in a couple of minutes) and I would eventually reach my max speed in a couple of minutes. Now with the newest version, it doesn't do that. It just stays at a bunch of peers and I only get a couple of seeds(with my download speed never exceeding 100 kB/s).

My ports are forwarded properly and I am using a WRT54G router from linksys(I know the model has firmware issues but with older versions of utorrent, I could frequently get 1 MB/s with larger swarms).
