utorrent is still running but can't be maximized

a download i was running is still working, as utorrent still appears in the taskbar and when i mouse over the icon it shows the download speed and all, but i can;t maximise utorrent (when i double click the icon in the taskbar nothing happens) or open new torrents. I was using 1.8.5 and downloaded 2.0 but the problem remained ! (Using Vista)
