DrRaven
Hi Everyone,Currently using the latest version of uTorrent on Windows 7 and I need to know how to implement ipfilter.dat. I have the setting enabled, but where do I get the latest .DAT file and where should it be located on the system? How do I load it?Also I have PeerBlock running on my system. Is there any value in running both ipfilter and peer block.Thank you all.DBR
moogly
Save ipfilter.dat in the folder %appdata%\utorrent. And load it into µT by right clicking in the Peers tab. Also I have PeerBlock running on my system. Is there any value in running both ipfilter and peer block.Probably. PB is useless just for µT. Use the build-in solution and your firewall.
DrRaven
Thanks for the information Moogly...Where is the best place to get an ipfilter.dat file?? Or should I generate on using BLM? Also, why do you suggest the Peer blocker might not be of any use?DBR
moogly
ipfilter.dat is just a poor level of security contrary to some people can think, and surely not a tool to be anonymous when you're downloading torrents. So build-in ipfilter is really enough.Large blocking lists (like Bluetack or emule) are not really useful because they ban too many large innocent IP blocks that are not torrent poisoner.PB can interfer with µT, imply some crashes and slow the speeds.
