theoriginalaks
The problem: Magnet links simply do not function regardless of browser, or bittorrent client. Furthermore despite uTorrent being properly associated with .torrent files it does not appear as a "default program". And finally the entire Magnet protocol does not appear as an option under Set Associations within the control panel.Interestingly the Magnet key within HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT properly points to utorrent and Chrome acknowledges this on first attempt to open the magnet link after deleting "magnet": false, from the Local State file. However, after hitting launch application nothing happens. Internet Explorer does not react in any way.Attempted solutions: Uninstalled/Reinstalled multiple bitorrent clients. Repeatedly deleted "magnet": false, from the Local State file for Chrome (With the browser closed of course.) Completely deleted and recreated the entire Magnet key and all subkeys from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Additional detail:Running Windows 8 64-bit. Issue occured out of the blue, no previous problems with magnet links prior. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Magnet/shell/open/command points correctly to "C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe" "%1"
