"last seen complete" and "last download" - Simplest implementation!

Hi,

I don't think

"Last Active" =/= "Last Seen Complete" (not same)

from the torrents I've been currently downloading (unless you're in the programming group to make sure otherwise)...

I still have a torrent I added knowingly it was unseeded and partially available for downloading individual files. It is stuck at 59% and with a "last active" column of 5h55m which I believe means the torrent was last "partially available (active)" at 6hrs ago before stuck. But since I've never seen it complete and it shows something at "last active" column thus I conclude;

"Last Active" <= "Last Seen Complete"

In logic, as the time passes (@limit) "last active" might become somewhat like "last seen complete" since; if you start a torrent without caring about seeds or seeds deserted while you're downloading, you get all there's but remaining pieces in shortest time, then you start to "WAIT". At first there's a huge gap between last active and last seen complete (either infinity or something higher than 'last active' if seeds deserted while you're downloading). As the days/weeks passes, the difference may become more and more insignificant where one can defend 'there you see in the end they're'. Well they're still different and there's still need;...

What if a user is someone like set-n-forget type (most are) and gets a ten GBs big of a 'unhealthy' torrent and the last seeder deserted short after he joined while remaining a swarm of different percentage peers (say from 97% to 05%). Depending on the cumulative bandwidth capacities of peers, the user can get to download the torrent for weeks (depending on size and others) from other peers while still not noticing the torrent becomes unseeded (unless tries other ways) just by looking at "last active" since because of close-to-seed peers (97%), "last active" column can be 5m(inutes) while "(last) seen complete" column would be 2-3w(eeks). If no seeder to come back, because of that particular torrent among peers; many GBs of disk space, many hours of bandwidth, many watts of energy (go green!) and others will all be wasted. I'm not saying all because but saying the user(s) can simply save space, time... just simply looking at "last seen complete" from to time to time to conclude that; that torrent is officially "dead" and stop downloading it...

I think I made my case yet there may be ones to suggest "other" ways like touching your right ear with your left hand (a saying) which won't be that practical like "last seen complete". I also know my example isn't bulletproof but also can the suggestions be? If you're to examine right-click columns presented in the latest version of µTorrent; you'll also notice that why not? I believe it'll be more easy to write few lines of code and implement it while compared to opposing, arguing, detouring the simplest solution since the time required to program can't be compared to time will be saved among µTorrent users...

For the eMule; I believe they also should implement the "last active" column as well as their 'last seen complete' column to ease their users life.

For me all doesn't matter since I have few torrents & keeping good track of them for this to happen. But I can't deny a simple column of "last seen complete" will ease my µTorrent experience like many other users...

Thanks ;-)...

P.S: I'm sorry if I'm mistaken anywhere. And for the moderator to "trash" this post claiming 'requested before'; Sir, I examined all related posts yet I believe the case is not well tried like here among them...

All the 'Last Active' column is supposed to do is give you an idea how long it has been since you last downloaded a piece, when downloading, and when you last sent out a chunk, when seeding.

It probably is more useful when seeding, since you can tell how long it has been since there has been any demand on a torrent.

When downloading, it is true that it won't tell you about seeing a 1.000 availability, but it was never intended for that. It only counts active traffic you're involved with.
