HTTP-Error 401

The last few months i was able to download an upload several torrents to and from a tracker.Now this tracker has gone private, and now i can't downoad or upload the same torrents anymore. at the tracker status appears the text HTTP-Error 401.Where must i place the loginname and password for this tracker in utorrent. I got no ban of the tracker because i can log on to the tracker in IE. I'm using no proxy, and choose random ports.

I'm using utorrent 1.6.

Already did that, but with no succes. The problem still remains.

This is a tracker issue, not a client issue.

Then why isn't there a problem with the same torrents when i am using azureus?

because azureus is the ONLY client out there that supports http authentication on announce.

uTorrent isn't azureus

It appears as though a solution may be available (at least on uTorrent 1.7).

1) Stop the torrent.

2) Right Click -> Properties.

3) Change the tracker URL from "http://tracker.com/announce" to "http://username:password@tracker.com/announce" (where username and password are the http user/pass).

4) Disable DHT.

5) Start the torrent.

6) Enjoy.
