bobholm
I connect by wi-fi and do not have a router, but uTorrent says to open port 40043 in my router. ???!? How do you open a port on a non-existent router?
DreadWingKnight
Some modems double as routers. Is your modem listed on http://portforward.com/routers.htm ?Have you opened the port in any software firewall you have?
bobholm
No, I'm not using a modem -- directly connected to Internet via wi-fi. And I have opened no ports; they are all closed. GRC says I am totally in stealth mode. I have no idea how to open a specific port. I am using ZoneAlarm, but that involves whole programs or modules of programs, not ports. DreadWingKnight
If you are connected via WiFi, chances are your connection is classified as "Shared"If you run "cmd /k ipconfig" from start - run, you will see an IP address that starts with one of:192.168.10.172.16. - 172.31. bobholm
Yes, DWK, IP add starts with 192.168. Now what? I still don't see how I'm supposed to open a port.
DreadWingKnight
you probably won't be able to.
