Kevin578
Whenever I start to download a file, the full file's size is already taken even though the download just started. For example, If I download a 1 GB file, the full GB is already taken up on my hard drive even though the download just stared. Is this normal?Another question is, what are the chances of me corrupting a download whenever I don't properly close uTorrent? Will things like pulling computer cord while downloading, or Ctrl-Alt-Delete-End Task, or just shut down computer while downloading corrupt the download? Thanks, and uTorrent is awesome! Firon
Yes, it's normal.µTorrent will re-check the data if you do that the next time you start it up, which takes time. So I suggest you let it close gracefully.
Kevin578
Thanks for your help! So if uTorrent checks the data, the chances of corrupting are pretty low right?
µtorrent-Guest
due to the way BT handles pieces there is no chance of corrupting; µT will just redownload pieces that fail.However. If you shut down PC that way, you might damage your HDD and will eventually loose EVERY data on it.And if your µT has for example 50 pieces a 4 MB in the state of transfer while killing it, have fun with loosing 200 MB! Firon
There's virtually no chance of it getting corrupted. It's not good for your HDD to have crashes like that, though.
