redjohnboy
Hi, I'm a new user to the world of torrent files. I've set up Utorrent as per the set up guide. my port forwarding is fine and I have the little green tick at the bottom of the screen to indicate that all is well.my download speeds vary due to the amount of seeds/peers but on average, i am getting download speeds of approx. between 0.5 and 6 Kb/s per torrent that I am downloading. I don't know if this is slow, fast or normal as, like I said I am new to this. can anyone tell me if this is normal, or what sort of download speeds should I expect - cheers =)
Switeck
It completely depends on your connection's sustainable limits, whether the torrent you're on has "good" seeds+peers, and whether you're using useful and fair settings in µTorrent.Being on a satellite or wireless ISP probably wouldn't help, but if that were the case you probably wouldn't get the green light. Your ISP may throttle BitTorrent traffic, as they consider it a breach of their terms-of-service/fair-use clauses in contract.
Lord Alderaan
Try the Open Office torrent. It should give you decent speeds if your connection allows it and should thus give you an idea of the capabilities of your internet connection.
