DutchDude
I was wondering .... would it be possible to open upload ports based on connected peers in a swarm ? Some kind of right-click match functionality i mean. I have a few torrents which i would like to have as many open upload ports as there are peers to max-out the upload (assuming that 1 peer connects to 1 port offcourse).I can imagine that this would be usefull even on download ports....Why ? Well..... why specify 60 upload slots... if there are only 30 peeers max, and of them only 13 are connected ?Am i missing something here, or could this be optimised in some way? Firon
If you had it set to 60 slots and you were connected to 13 peers, it'd only use 13 slots at most. I don't see the point of this feature...
DutchDude
Unless it still does some checking on the remaining slots (perhaps reserving memory, opening network ports etc) This could be avoided, and therefore the client may even be more efficient in the end......(If you make your software idiot-proof, someone will come back with a better idiot)
Firon
it doesn't open a slot unless it's used, and you still have to have the connection open to the peer in the first place
DutchDude
Well.... i assume you may be right and leave it at that.... i had actually hoped for this response but just wanted to be sure that i could set the upload slots as high as i wanted without the client wasting resources to handle the extra slots.....
