LaughingSkull Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 How can I make the program NOT create new folders at the location that I have pointed? This bugs me to no end as the program becomes confused when I move the files later.
ICleolion Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 by taking the new folder name out of the Save As download location in the add new torrent window.e.g. So instead of this -> C:\TestTorrentWith TestTorrent being the name of the folder being created.Edit the line to say this -> C:\
LaughingSkull Posted May 13, 2007 Author Report Posted May 13, 2007 That's not really a solution.Say I wanted the files to be downloaded to C:\. What then?
ICleolion Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 It is a solution. And my example above does exactly what you ask for. And its not that program that gets confused when you move files, its you who gets confused. The ideal solution would be for you to not move files around.
LaughingSkull Posted May 13, 2007 Author Report Posted May 13, 2007 Take it easy there, I meant no offence. Sorry. Yes, the explanation you offered is a solution, but not in all cases.Say I wanted to download the files to C:/. What should I do?
ICleolion Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 Yes it is a solution in all cases, and for your benefit im going to repeat what i said in my initial reply. In the Add New Torrent dialog. At the top where it says Save As. Type in C:\
LaughingSkull Posted May 13, 2007 Author Report Posted May 13, 2007 Apparently the solution works when you download the files straight on the hard drive, and not in any folder. But let's say I have a folder "stuff" on C: and want to download the files strictly in it, without creating any folders. The program will create a folder "files" in C:\stuff, though, and will place the files there. So, at the end, the files will be located in C:\stuff\files, instead of in C:\stuff, where I wanted them. What can I do to get around that?
ICleolion Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 type in C:\stuff into the Save As area at the top of the Add New Torrent dialog. If you are talking about changing the fundamental file structure of the torrent contents itself so that all files are taken out of subdirectories and flat packed in one directory, then you can forget about having a feature like that.
Lord Alderaan Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 The folder can contain a path too especially with multiple files. If the 'files' folder you talk about is coded in the torrent there is nothing you can do.You can see the folders that are coded into the torrent itself in the files tab in µtorrent.
Ultima Posted May 14, 2007 Report Posted May 14, 2007 Yah, that's what ICleolion just addressed at the end of his last post
Lord Alderaan Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 But... he... like... didn't... mention how to... like... find that out... using... like... the files tab and all... but don't shoot me... think of my children... which... I might have in the future.
