Pwnage Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 What are they and are they better than normal ip's? I asked my isp if they provided it and they said no. Is there any way to get it, and if i do so would that be illegal?
Animorc Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 There's no way to get a static IP if your ISP doesn't provide it. And there's not that big of a deal to have it either. It might be easier to stay logged in to private tracker pages, but how difficult is it to just login again?
Pwnage Posted November 15, 2005 Author Report Posted November 15, 2005 What is a static ip? Someone said that i could get it if i went to portforwarding.com.
chaosblade Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 They're talking about people with routers. You can define a static IP for your own computer (to be used in your own LAN enviroment, not on the internet) so your router will always know where your machine is - useful when you have to forward ports and things between your machine and the router.
