ScartCock Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 As the subject line implies, please advise me on a cable modem which:Loves uTorrentQuick to set up / Easy to forward portsAffordableFastStableAlso, should I bin Norton Internet Security 2007 when I upgrade? Frustrated as I need to download and have been teased with how good uTorrent can be until my D Link Di 624 got freaky on me!Please help - maybe info on the most compatable hardware and software firewalls should be on a Sticky? Thanks peeps!
Ultima Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Linksys WRT54GL is a fine choice. The only prerequesite is that you'll need to upgrade to a third-party firmware like Thibor's HyperWRT or Tomato firmware, but it's easy (and takes at most 5 minutes, assuming you're mildly prepared).
ScartCock Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Cheers Ultima for your replay. Could you tell me if I should bin NIS 2007 and opt for some other anti virus, or will NIS be OK with the Linksys?
Firon Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Norton anything is terrible. Outpost appears to be decent, though.
Switeck Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 NIS 2007 may be "ok" for the Linksys router, but I've heard it's a tricky devil to get working with µTorrent without problems...if posts about it here are anything to go by.
TheSacredSoul Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 Ultima, can you confirm this is the one you are talking about.I am interested in getting one. Thanks!http://sg.auctions.yahoo.com/sg/i:LINKSYS%20Wireless-G%20Broadband%20Router%20(WRT54G):249367414Please copy and paste the whole link manually. The forum only think half of it is a link.
