IP to report to tracker configuration...

As some of you might know there is a freeware program that can provide a person with a "static" ip although that person might have dynamic. No-IP is one program at least which i know of. Why can't i enter someone.no-ip.info instead of entering my ip there each time? Why can't anyone put in there a host name and you then try to resolve it and report it to the tracker?

You do know that the "IP to report to tracker" should be used only if you're behind a proxy, right?

The IP to Report to Tracker may be considered the PORT field too.

Usually, as the IP, there are NOT to change and may be empty in 99.9% of clients.

But the networks are complex and is very easy insert a field for the 'Port to Report to Tracker'.

Answering to qyte, it may be possible but it's not recommended, because the tracker then return a NAME and not an IP.

That's the error of your post, you don't have a 'Static IP'.

You have a Static NAME (DNS).

This feature of the Static Name is only useful if you want to cheat the tracker and not report the ratio.

If that Static Name points to Your IP, you may let the field 'Empty'.

Do NOT need a Static Name.

You don't need to use it because the tracker can figure out your external IP. The exception is when you're a) on the same LAN as the tracker when you're behind a proxy. Even then, many trackers will IGNORE the IP you report.
