demon
Hi im having real problems getting anything downloading on utorrent. If it does its only up to a max of 15.5kb/s odd. Ive set it up perfectly following all instructions. I have the status ok green tick at the bottom of the page aswell so i cant think of why it wont speed up. Strangly i used to get speeds of 115kb/s to 120kb/s. I have tiscali 1.1 Mbpsdaytime speedsSpeed Down 956.00 Kbps ( 0.9 Mbps )Speed Up 253.36 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )Evening speedsSpeed Down 497.00 Kbps ( 0.5 Mbps )Speed Up 235.38 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )Any ideas? Thanks in advanceMark griffin
jewelisheaven
If you have setup for xx/256 in the Speed Guide you should be fine. That is of course if you're getting around Tiscali's shaping of your traffic. (searching for Tiscali will give you some feedback as to their reputation around here and for their business practices)
demon
oh yeah i know tiscali are pretty poor.. ive got it all set up perfect to all the specs and have done countless things to try and fix it.. im baffled as it used to work fine :s
Ultima
Perhaps you should try the µTorrent 1.8 alpha builds to see if there is any improvement? µTorrent 1.8 has been seen getting around ISP throttling in some cases.
demon
Tried it mate.. same problem.. been going through all the firewall setting, turning them off and on checking but to no avail.. running at 0.7 kbps
Ultima
Then I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it... My guess is that you got lucky before when they didn't throttle you :/
demon
is this throttling getting worse then? ive got peerguardian on but that also makes no difference.. so bleedin annoying
Ultima
PeerGuardian definitely wouldn't help against throttling I'm not sure if the throttling is actually getting worse; it may well have been that they simply didn't throttle in your particular area before, but just started doing so recently.http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/index.htmlHow does this torrent run for you? demon
yeah didnt think so.. tbh im not sure how throttling works.. i know its to do with bandwidth.. is there any way of loosening there grip?got utorrent 1.8 again and got a download speed of 70 kbps max.. improved but still not great
Ultima
There probably isn't anything you can do about it other than switching ISPs, assuming there even are any ISPs in your area that don't throttle BitTorrent.
