horrendo
Hi. I have been running utorrent under wine on ubuntu 7.10 quite happily until today. I started utorrent and it prompted me to update - to which I said go ahead. Now utorrent still runs but I have no UI. I know it is running because I had partially completed torrents and those torrents have subsequently completed and been moved from the 'downloading' directory to the 'completed' directory.I thought it may have been something related to the update so I tried uninstalling utorrent and re-installing the older version. Same problem.I don't know if this is relevant but if I start utorrent from the command line, here's what I get ...stbaldwin@au-stb-mobile:~$ env WINEPREFIX="/home/stbaldwin/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe"fixme:msvcrt:__lconv_init stubfixme:heap:HeapSetInformation 0x110000 0 0x458b00 4err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {304ce942-6e39-40d8-943a-b913c40c9cd4} not registerederr:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {304ce942-6e39-40d8-943a-b913c40c9cd4} could be created for context 0x1fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation 0x610000 0 0x458b00 4fixme:ntdll:find_reg_tz_info Can't find matching timezone information in the registry for bias -600, std (d/m/y): 6/04/2008, dlt (d/m/y): 5/10/2008fixme:listview:LISTVIEW_SetColumnOrderArray iCount 16 lpiArray 0x34ed58fixme:keyboard:UnregisterHotKey (0x20026,1): stubfixme:winsock:WS_setsockopt Unknown IPPROTO_IP optname 0x00000013fixme:winsock:WS_setsockopt Unknown IPPROTO_IP optname 0x00000013fixme:winsock:WS_setsockopt Unknown IPPROTO_IP optname 0x00000013err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {304ce942-6e39-40d8-943a-b913c40c9cd4} not registerederr:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {304ce942-6e39-40d8-943a-b913c40c9cd4} could be created for context 0x1fixme:winsock:WS_setsockopt Unknown IPPROTO_IP optname 0x00000013Thanks,Steve
Ultima
When you say "uninstall," do you mean you deleted settings.dat and settings.dat.old?
horrendo
I didn't manually delete anything. From the command line I typed :env WINEPREFIX="/home/stbaldwin/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe" /uninstallThanks for your help. Ultima
Hm. Try visiting ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/profiles/stbaldwin/Application Data/uTorrent and removing settings.dat and settings.dat.old if they're there.
horrendo
That seemed to do it. Thanks very much. Is this something I should expect to do with each utorrent upgrade?
Ultima
If what you're asking is whether it's normal, then the answer is "no." I'm not really sure why it's happening, really. Perhaps when µTorrent saves its window position on exit, Wine is spitting some incorrect number at it, and so it ends up off screen the next time it starts up? The question then arises as to why it didn't happen before (which I've not even a slight clue about). At any rate, if it happens again in the future, save the settings.dat* files and upload them here for us to check out.
jewelisheaven
That's a good question, which key saves the window position. LV_* is for the columns in all the listviews.
Ultima
My guess would have to be mainwnd, though I've never bothered to investigate.
jewelisheaven
LOL, yup probably, most things with *wnd relate to the display somehow. I have no idea how its decoded though I tried something simple like the preaddwnd (add dialog) it's two bytes then two bytes, both sets of numbers don't seem like a sizing, or an offset.. 1280x960 is my res and I'm getting 48000, heh
