jewelisheaven Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 You had a port forwarding rule in your modem already? If you did that means it ALSO has router functionality which should be turned off, or fully-opened. By turn off I mean "Bridge Mode" which some routers have. In the current setup BOTH your MODEM and ROUTER are working as firewalls, so it's no surprise that you can't get incoming connections :/'Thank you for your thorough report Can you report back if you're able to turn off the modem's routing functionality.
jewelisheaven Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 curiouser and curiouser...If you take the router out of the equation while STILL having the modem as bridge mode... does your internet work right off the bat?
Ultima Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 When you set the modem to bridge mode while your computer is still connected directly to it, you'll probably need to disable static IP on your computer.
