quake73
my uTorrent stops for about a minute (I'm running server 2008 beta version) and then continues running normally. Is someone else having a similar problem ? I guess my OS is similar to Vista even though it is beta version.
jewelisheaven
lol server 08! That's the re-release of Longhorn right? When does uT stop? How long after starting? Does it do this every restart of uT? Does it continue to "freeze" the GUI at a regular interval? Are you running any http://utorrent.com/faq.php#Incompatible_software? Sure I guess it could be based on the OS. If you wouldn't mind getting a process explorer DLL list for utorrent.exe (get zip from http://www.sysinternals.com, open procexp.exe, Ctrl-L, Ctrl-D, click utorrent.exe, Ctrl-A)... I and others would be happy to look at it
quake73
:-) thanks for comments. I know it is possible it has something to do with the OS, but I was just curious if there's anyone else having similar problems.P.S.I'm always running servers on my machine, they are more interesting and I have installed 2008 x64 two weeks ago and noticed that uTorrent isn't running as it did before. And here's the list of DLLs:Process: uTorrent.exe Pid: 5540Name Description Company Name Versionactxprxy.dll ActiveX Interface Marshaling Library Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119ADVAPI32.dll Advanced Windows 32 Base API Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119browseui.dll Shell Browser UI Library Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119C_1252.NLS CLBCatQ.DLL COM+ Configuration Catalog Microsoft Corporation 2001.12.6931.17119COMCTL32.dll User Experience Controls Library Microsoft Corporation 6.10.6001.17119comdlg32.dll Common Dialogs DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119dhcpcsvc.DLL DHCP Client Service Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119dhcpcsvc6.DLL DHCPv6 Client Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119DNSAPI.dll DNS Client API DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119DUser.dll Windows DirectUser Engine Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119FirewallAPI.dll Windows Firewall API Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119GDI32.dll GDI Client DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119IMM32.DLL Multi-User Windows IMM32 API Client DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119Iphlpapi.dll IP Helper API Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119kernel32.dll Windows NT BASE API Client DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119kernel32.dll.mui Windows NT BASE API Client DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119loc2008.nls loc2008.nls LPK.DLL Language Pack Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119MSCTF.dll MSCTF Server DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119msctf.dll.mui MSCTF Server DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6000.16386mssprxy.dll mssprxy.dll Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119msvcrt.dll Windows NT CRT DLL Microsoft Corporation 7.00.6001.17119mswsock.dll Microsoft Windows Sockets 2.0 Service Provider Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119napinsp.dll E-mail Naming Shim Provider Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119NLAapi.dll Network Location Awareness 2 Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119NSI.dll NSI User-mode interface DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119ntdll.dll NT Layer DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119ntdll.dll NT Layer DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119NTMARTA.DLL Windows NT MARTA provider Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119ole32.dll Microsoft OLE for Windows Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119OLEAUT32.dll Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119pnrpnsp.dll PNRP Name Space Provider Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119PROPSYS.dll Microsoft Property System Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119PSAPI.DLL Process Status Helper Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6000.16386R00000000000d.clb rasadhlp.dll Remote Access AutoDial Helper Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6000.16386RPCRT4.dll Remote Procedure Call Runtime Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119rsaenh.dll Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119SAMLIB.dll SAM Library DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119Secur32.dll Security Support Provider Interface Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119SETUPAPI.dll Windows Setup API Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119setupapi.dll.mui Windows Setup API Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119SHELL32.dll Windows Shell Common Dll Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119shell32.dll.mui Windows Shell Common Dll Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119SHLWAPI.dll Shell Light-weight Utility Library Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119tsappcmp.dll Terminal Services Application Compatibility DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119USER32.dll Multi-User Windows USER API Client DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119user32.dll.mui Multi-User Windows USER API Client DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119USERENV.dll Userenv Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119USP10.dll Uniscribe Unicode script processor Microsoft Corporation 1.626.6001.17119uTorrent.exe uxtheme.dll Microsoft UxTheme Library Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119VERSION.dll Version Checking and File Installation Libraries Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119WINNSI.DLL Network Store Information RPC interface Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119winrnr.dll LDAP RnR Provider DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6000.16386WLDAP32.dll Win32 LDAP API DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119wow64.dll Win32 Emulation on NT64 Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119wow64cpu.dll AMD64 Wow64 CPU Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119wow64win.dll Wow64 Console and Win32 API Logging Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119WS2_32.dll Windows Socket 2.0 32-Bit DLL Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119wshtcpip.dll Winsock2 Helper DLL (TL/IPv4) Microsoft Corporation 6.00.6001.17119Anyway, it's not a bad thing, I just wait for a while and it carries on, don't bother too much. And since I upgraded to v1.7.7 2 hours ago it is running better (I had v1.7.5 I think). It still freezes occasionally.
jewelisheaven
OOH! new features.. does it include any of the WinFS framework they were supposed to ship with Vista? Yea, that list includes standard Windows DLLs, so it's probably going to take checking the threads or uhmm stack?? when it freezes to see what the holdup is. When it freezes, can you still interact with the GUI? I know there's a trick to force a crashdump by going to Logger, holding Ctrl and click dump memory info. But I'm not sure how that would help if the GUI is totally frozen. If you check out process explorer's window for the utorrent process while frozen, does it increase in handles or GDI/User Objects, or jump in CPU or RAM usage? :/Woo for my first glimpse of longhorn server
quake73
hmmmm, you seem like a pretty knowledgeable guy, I'm glad chatting with you.....No, it just freezes completely, no GUI, no net activity, nothing but however, it doesn't crash, it's just frozen completely, no activity at all.And I'm glad to give you the first looks on srv2008 it's good if you are into server OSes
jewelisheaven
I know what I've had the privilege to poke at This includes uT, but not on anything as fantastic as x86x64 or multi-core CPUs (yet)... and I've not touched anything post XP since Server 2003 was in uhm, beta 2? So yeah, it may be the OS, but trying to find coinciding actions may help find out what's going on. Does it happen in cycles? You said it freezes for a minute but them comes back. Is it always a minute? Are you sure there is no network activity (checking Windows Task Manager.. it still exists right?) during the freezing? Definitely more investigation should be going on, and feel free to continue posting certain behaviours you notice to help elucidate the underlying cuase
quake73
I surely checked task manager, the net activity drops to zero when uT freezes. And yes, task man. still exists in 2008 and it's better than ever :-). It now has some of the features of PRIO.EXE like services, changing proc. priority etc.
