chuck_norris
He is the deal. I have a static connection setup on my wireless network to download my torrents. I get good speeds however when i take my laptop to like a coffee shop or whatever, i have to go into my wireless settings and change to a dynamic ip then when i return home i have to re-enter my static ip, subnet mask, and all that other crap. This is a pain in my ass. I have a netgear WRT54GS VERSION 7 firmware. What do I do. Thanks
jewelisheaven
... I thought that's what "Alternate configuration" in the wireless setup was for? It exists in XP, not sure whether it's in Vista.
AllGamer
yes it's on both.the correct way to use "alternate config" for the IP / SubN / DNS is to leave it on "Auto" for the DHCP servers like when you are on the internet cafe, or library, etc.and use "ALTERNATE config" tab, for your HOME setup, so enter your static IP , SubN and DNS in there.doing it the opposite way will not work properly.
