No router, but the port says it's still not forwarded properly.. ???

Hey everyone.

I have a quick question. When using the Speed Guide to see if my port is forwarded correctly I am getting a big red "NO" on it. The weird thing is, I am not using a router. I have no idea what I need to do so that I can get it forwarded properly. Here are some specifics about my setup....

1. I am using Windows Vista

2. I am also using the included Windows firewall

3. I manually entered the port # in the "allow a program through windows firewall" option in the control panel. I wasn't sure if I should select TCP or UDP so I did a seperate entry for the port # with each setting.

4. I have a DSL connection from Embarq (Sprint)

Anyone have any idea what I need to do in order to get my port forwarded correctly?

Thanks.

uT has the ability to auto-add the applicable rule to Windows Firewall... It's possible that way may forward it right. Are you sure your modem does not have any mini-router in it? Have you checked it @ Portforward.com to see if it's listed there? And just so I'm being clear on your setup you only have the DSL line -> modem -> computer right?

I forgot to mention I use http://www.canyouseeme.org and http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=YOURPORTNUMBER and https://www.grc.com/x/portprobe=YOURPORTNUMBER to test open ports.

My set-up is exactly as you have described.

It looks like you were right on the money because when I flipped over my modem to look at it, it says on the bottom "Model: EQ-660R ADSL Router". So, that looks like what it going on here most likely. The only problem is... it says that it is made by Embarq and it is not listed in the guide that shows you how to forward ports on your router. I haven't really done this before so I am not sure how to do it without a guide. I know Embarq is owned by Sprint so I checked out the guide for Sprint but it is not the same model number as the one I have. So, I am not sure what to do.
