Port not open, no router/firewall set to except utorrent

After having trouble with my lynksys router I abandoned it completely and began connecting directly from my cable modem. This solved the "Error:Port Not Forwarded Properly" messages, but now I'm having the same problem although I'm not using a router. Also, I had already added utorrent as an exception to my firewall settings which had worked up until recently. Here is the problem--I am able to download/seed just fine off of public tackers, and download from private trackers, although for some reason I cannot seed on private trackers (which are the ones that count, for me anyway). When I had this problem in the past with my router I opened the ports and it worked, and then eventually stopped working, which is when I started using just the cable modem. Now same issue...any ideas??? Especially about why I'd be able to seed just fine on public trackers (which I don't care to do) and not on private???

Thanks for any help.

Without a router your modem is the only hardware? Perhaps your ISP noticed the bandwidth and turned on your modem's mini-router functionality. That people cannot connect to you means there is still a block on your port. Have you checked through Ultima's How-To? I use http://www.canyouseeme.org and http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=YOURPORTNUMBER and https://www.grc.com/x/portprobe=YOURPORTNUMBER to test open ports. They may show some differences which help you figure out what's going on (different external IPs signify a proxy; different port ranges open mean they are actively blocking ports). It may also be software on your computer. What software do you have installed for: AV, security, firewall?

Ability to seed is not dependent upon the swarm. It's dependent upon the PEERS in the swarm. As swarm size decreases the importance of being forwarded becomes clear. Two firewalled peers will not connect to eachother.
