kezune
Hi guys.I've just downloaded the latest IP filter list from bluetack and placed it in the uTorrent folder in appdata, but when I load up utorrent 1.8 the log says: "[2008-09-11 11:39:30] Loaded ipfilter.dat (1 entries)".Now, I'm a recent convert from Azureus (Vuze, whatever) and when I loaded an IPfilter list it would generally tell me how many entries there were in that list. Obviously it was a lot more than one, so can someone tell me what I've done wrong?
Firon
It has to be an ipfilter in the emule format. But the ipfilter lists from bluetack are utterly useless. They won't do a damn thing to protect you.
kezune
Oh ok, thanks. I did see a file in the AppData folder that looked like an update utility for the ipfilter file. Is that the best way to go about getting an up to date ip list?
Firon
There is no official update utility for updating ipfilters with utorrent. And if yours came bundled with it, then it wasn't obtained from us.
kezune
Really? I only just downloaded uTorrent a few days ago from the official site...I haven't downloaded anything else for uTorrent either. If that batch file isn't supposed to be there then where did it come from?I'm actually using it right now:
Firon
You must've downloaded it with the ipfilter you obtained.
kayhe9.1
Having problems with some IPV6 addresses leaking through the IP filter with 1.8 and 1.8.1-beta-12154, works ok on with 1.7.7Cannot find any mention of the problem, if it is not a known problem I will do some more testing to try and give the developers a clue where the problem is. Ultima
Hm...? ipfilter.dat filters only IPv4 addresses... 1.7.7 never supported IPv6 in the first place, so it wouldn't have connected to IPv6 addresses even if you didn't explicitly block them in ipfilter.dat. kayhe9.1
Thanks for the reply, that does explain the bug.Items in IPFILTER.DAT are not being blocked when the IPV6 transport is being used even when the address is in the IPV4 address space. Peergardian 2 has been fixed so it does also block the IPV6 equivilent of the address as well.I did notice if uTorrent has trouble connecting using IPV4 then it changes to IPV6 (or was it visa versa)
thelittlefire
? uTorrent connects to whatever peers it finds, or find it, and doesn't connect to peers in the ipfilter.datMaking ipfilter.dat IPv6 aware sounds like fun, LOL.
