western32
Allow incoming traffic on specific port for uTorrent to function properly. What do you mean by that? Is it for DHT/PEX/LPD and the like to be enabled, so that you get to find more peers, thus increase traffic?
Firon
No, it's for other peers to connect to you, which is beneficial. Plus, if another peer is firewalled and you are too, you'll never be able to connect.
western32
Oh, OK. http://userpages.umbc.edu/~hamilton/btclientconfig.htmlAnother question, if you will: is the good functioning of DHT/PEX/LPD (and the like) requiring one to poke holes in his firewall, or else are they able to function in some limited manner without holes having to be poked through? Thanks Firon,western32
Lord Alderaan
No DHT/PEX are to find peers through other (non-tracker) means.LPD is to find local peers and identify them as such (which can help the download and upload speed).Firewall holepunching is a totally different thing. It is to help you actually connect to peers if you are behind a firewall you cannot configure.
