rpitcairn
I downloaded this program tonight. Have never used a torrent access software before. Was able to find a link to download and it is coming in it seems (showing a percentage done) but there is this red dot in the lower right corner. When I click on it, the message is "the incoming TCP port is not connectable". I go to system preferences/security and it shows utorrent has ability to accept incoming traffic so I am puzzled by this. I mean it IS coming in and it appears utorrent is set up correctly. Anyone have an idea what this is about? Thanks,Richard
dc297spec
it means you have no incoming connections change port forwarding settings in your router
rpitcairn
Thanks. I will see if I can figure it out.
thelittlefire
http://utorrent.com/guides.php start with the Setup Guide, and be sure you can identify the make/model/version of your devices between YOUR PC and your ISP. Some modems include firewalls... when placing you behind a router for wireless, etc, that makes you double-NAT which makes things difficult. rpitcairn
I am using a MacBook Air and Time Capsule as my router. Is the dot and connection have to do with me sharing files back into the network?
thelittlefire
hmmm so you've got ISP > Time Capsule > AirWhen you started uT, did you have to allow rules in your firewall (Little Snitch)? If not, it's possible connections inbound were automatically blocked.
rpitcairn
When I started uT got an automatic message asking if uT could receive internet messages and I replied "yes".Went to my security preferences panel/firewall and it shows uT can accept communications so I assume all is as it should be at that end. thelittlefire
OK, what's the error when you mouseover the network status icon? Did you enable UPnP/NAT-PMP? I had no problem with it, and i'm using a netgear router.
rpitcairn
"Not connectable. A firewall or router is limiting network traffic. I need to open the port so others can connect to me."The only place I can see maybe doing that is in the Airport Utility, there is a tab under Advanced labeled "Port mapping". Says it is for "allowing computers outside my network to access specific devices on my network". This is where a change needs to be made?I don't understand what this part is doing in any case since my torrent file is downloading. Can you explain? NoOneButMe
no-ip has nothing to do with forwarding ports. Read http://portforward.com/ for all the help you should rationally nead.
