uTorrent 'Not Responding' instantly for a long time

Recommended Posts

Every time I load uTorrent (except for pre-1.8.1) and touch anything (open the program etc) it gets the 'uTorrent has stopped responding' error.

This will work after several minutes of waiting (2-10), but makes me wait that long before I can add torrent files.

Also, it is difficult to close because it's 'not responding'. Even taskman killing doesnt work after 50+ tries... just have to wait for that 2-10 minute window to pass. It works fine after the wait period, this also happened in the 1.9 alpha release.

Thanks for your response, but I do not use antimalware/spyware/firewall other than Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. I have done a full virus scan as my computer is acting up, and nothing showed.

I am an advanced computer user, and quite aware on how to deal with viruses, I can usually fix them on my own, so I don't have a need for programs to do this for me and bog my computer down.

The uTorrent download light thing is green when I can use it, the port is enabled in Windows Firewall and my router.

I apologize for this not being helpful, but the problem resolved itself. I can no longer create an instance of lag with uTorrent. This is not the only problem randomly fixed. My most recent relative system activities are:

CCleaner (Somewhat likely, done after killing appdata/uTorrent and the uTorrent main prog)

Defrag

Reinstall uTorrent (Somewhat likely)

Reset/reconfigure Windows Firewall (Somewhat likely)

Malware scan (0 found)

Partition changes (Including installing WindowsXP as a secondary OS)

During all the hubbub, I seem to have fixed my strange (not found anywhere on google) problem in SecondLife also, which was that only Sculptures would not rez.

I hope I have given something useful back to the community, but I cant think of anything else to say. Hijackthis log will be posted shortly, if you find it will be of use. I will continue to monitor this thread to see if I may learn the source of the issue (it lasted several weeks).

I have made minor altercations to the hijackthis log for my privacy. They are noticeable and will make no difference.
