antoniong Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 When I just installed uTorrent it refused to do any uploading. So I started playing around and discovered that unchecking both "Peers ....... Enable ...." solved this problem. What is the meaning of these options?
thelittlefire Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 List the full text please. of the options you're asking about.
thelittlefire Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 You didn't need to screenshot, but the single words you used... could be used anywhere. Some routers/hardware can't handle DHT (the first unchecked checkbox) and PEX (the second unchecked checkbox). PEX causes less overhead since it uses existing connections for the data transfer.
NoOneButMe Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 @thelittlefire: He's just wondering what DHT and PEX do. Not why it fixed the problem.DHT is a distributed hash table that bittorrent can use for clients to talk to eachother to find new peers and find out who has what data without having to have a central tracker control everything.PEX is Peer Exchange. It lets peers trade information with other peers on the torrent to help discover additional people on the torrent. It's useful if the tracker is slow to update or is down.
