Slow Speed even without firewall or Antivirus .

Hello Everyone,

I had Kaspersky internet security 2009 configured for µtorrent access but i couldn't max out my downloads in OpenOffice and Slackware trackers go offline, i do have the green icon in µtorrent and the port checker works fine as well .

I wanted to try the test torrents without the firewall so i uninstalled Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 and tested again but that didn't work either.

I don't have any firewall running now or even an antivirus as well.

That's not a full logfile for either program.

If the test torrents download... how fast? How fast are your speeds SUPPOSED to be? What are your speedtest values?

Yes,, this is the logfile after uninstalling kaspersky internet security so no firewall or antivirus.

I am on 4 Mbps downstream and 512Kbps upstream ( ADSL) ; with Open Office the max i get after about 15 minutes is 50KBps which is even less than quarter of my download speed .

I did run speedtest of course, which is as i mentioned earlier for both my download and upload speed close to 4Mbps down and 512Kbps up .

OOo will give you "max" speeds down :9 This makes me think it may not be your computer. Can you verify with the other test torrent http://slackware.com/torrents/ ? Were you uploading at all while testing the download speed... Anything else, using the net connection? Games, browser, voip?

Slackware test torrents all go offline. I have DHT disabled to be able to browse at the same time so i can't download from Slackware . No other applications are running while µtorrent is working just normal browsing .

Well, first what are your Speed Guide (Ctrl-G) settings??

The error... "Error: Offline (timeout)" happened but you could still download?? OOo didn't do that? Most certainly it sounds like interference... have you searched here or in your search engine of choice for "tracker communication"? Though blocking tracker communication isn't affecting speeds per-se, the fact it happens, makes it likely something else is wrong. Does http://azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs show your ISP

Sure,,, ok my Speed guide control settings are for the 512Kbps upload.

As for azureus wiki bad/ISPs page, i have checked it before, my ISP isn't there yet.

I also did the test to check if my ISP throttles Bittorrent Protocol but it also always ends with error. The thing is i read from other user's results who use the same ISP as mine that My ISP still haven't started throttling Bittorrent as they have passed the test.

I am on new Notebook Pc with Vista Ultimate now.. i have no idea why µtorrent 1.8.1 doesn't work.

My Older Laptop was with windows XP ,, there weren't any issues there and µtorrent worked finely.

I am testing to download from Vuze's portal and i am getting much better download speeds there; i notice i am connected to azureus-using peers.

I don't want to download from there. I just want to max out my download speeds with either Open Office test torrents or Slackware Linux torrents; if they work i know i have µtorrent working fine now .

Thank you Switeck, i have read your signatures since long time now, since before having this speed problem. I used to read the forums once in a while before this problem .

The only thing that i can change is your suggested speed guide connections changes, which i already tried . It is still the same .

I have fixed slow browsing after reading your signatures; i have disabled DHT, so now that's one down.

As for the port checker i easily get the green icon . So that's another one down .
